Carliane Tamara shares her ode to queer visibility, “Kiss in Public”

While she only started releasing music in 2020, NYU student Carliane Tamara is finding her musical footing at an impressive rate.

A songwriting assignment turned debut, her first track, “Friends,” offered a playful, no-frills sound. Now, four songs later, the Puerto Rican songstress appears to be on steadier ground.

Her latest single, “Kiss in Public,” is a shuffled and crafty track exploring a certain desire for visibility and romantic freedom. Here, she balances creativity and honesty with great precision, making for a powerful first song of the year.
