Making a name for yourself is tough. Making a name for yourself in the shadow of famous family members can be even more difficult. But Franklin Jonas, the youngest of the Jonas Brothers, manages to carve his own lane for himself with his timeless hit “Cocaine.”
The song chronicles some of his darkest moments – and that tendency to romanticize what was once unhealthy but familiar – with the only thing to hold him up being cocaine. With Franklin’s vocal tone and influxes, flanged drums and guitars, he sonically transcribes the blissful highs he used to seek.
Taking inspiration from writers like Charles Bukowski and Allen Ginsberg, but never losing sight of his own creative vision, Franklin creates a well-written, must-hear record.
